Course Description
The 2nd Cancer conference is designed to provide the latest information on the management and control of Breast Cancer.

Course Learning objectives
Upon completion of this program, participant should be able to

  • Describe the epidemiology and risk factors of breast cancer

  • Describe the elements of a breast cancer screening program

  • Recall principles of surgical management of early breast cancer including sentinel node dissection

  • Describe the staging of breast cancer and the medical management both early stage and advanced stage

Intended audience
This course is intended for practicing surgeons, physicians, pathologists, radiologists, residents, medical students, pharmacists, nurses and researchers involved in the care of breast cancer patients

Lodging accommodation
There are limited accommodations available at Agbozume/Weta area for participants. Preference will be given to volunteers assisting with the IHDN Mission Hospital . There are nearby Hotel accommodations available at Aflao and Denu. Non-volunteer participants are required to make their own accommodation and transportation arrangements.

Fees
The course is free to all participants. Meals are provided to IHDN volunteer doctors, pharmacists, nurses and technicians.

Travel
IHDN Mission Hospital , Weta, is located on the Accra-Aflao road. It is about 16 miles from Aflao and about 123 miles from Accra . Public transportations are available. Participants will make their own transportation arrangements.

About IHDN
IHDN is a Springfield, IL–based, volunteer, non-profit, medical mission organization. IHDN is opening a mission hospital at Weta, in the Volta Region of Ghana. IHDN has a project site at Agbozume in the Volta Region with outreach programs to small surrounding villages. . Since 1996, IHDN has sponsored 13-medical mission trips to Ghana . IHDN sponsored the first Cancer conference in July 2001 at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Establishing a Cancer Registry. IHDN has donated medical supplies to several medical institutions in Accra , Ho and Aflao. IHDN is sponsoring a 36-member volunteer team from the US to Ghana from June 11-30, 2008. Ghanaian volunteers are also being recruited to assist in the provision of basic medical care to people living in small towns and villages.
