Two teams were in Ghana for the 2001 medical mission trip from July 7 through August 19, 2001. They offered programs at two sites:
Accra, GHANA
* Health professionals from the University of Ghana Medical School, Korle Bu, Accra, Ghana participated in a two-day Cancer Registry Workshop on July 23-July 24, 2001 offered by IHDN volunteers - Drs Edem Agamah and Remi Imeokparia, as well as local physicians and surgeons. * Dr. Remi Imeokparia conducted two-day computer statistical classes at the University of Ghana Medical School computer lab for local health professionals from Korle Bu and surrounding areas during July - August months.
Agbozume, GHANA
* Drs. Agamah and Sefenu [IHDN-Ghana Medical director], and Mrs June Agamah, MPH, offered other projects - community medical clinic, training in computer science, community health, medical laboratory training and Christian leadership - to the local community.
* Sisters - Sarah Agamah, Aseye Agamah, and Miriam Agamah - visited some local school children for whom they performed a skit about "The Story of Adam and Eve". They donated some children's books, also, to the school library.
* A fundraising event was organized by the local community to raise monies for Phase I of the proposed road construction.
OTHER RELATED ACTIVITIES
* Since Prof. Imeokparia was sponsored by the Rotary Foundation , United States, she was also hosted by the Rotary Club-Accra North, Ghana.
* Drs Agamah and Imeokparia donated a new HP Pentium III 933 MHz computer, and other items to the University of Ghana Medical School and the teaching Hospital. Congratulations to ALL the volunteers!!
